Children traveling from the residential area on the west side of town crossed the tracks on a regular basis to access the K-12 school campus and local City park. Gibbs & Olson provided land surveying, planning, design and construction management and observation phase services for this overpass project. The completed overpass provides pedestrians safe access across the railroad tracks. The overpass structure is a 645 foot long reinforced concrete slab bridge with 190 feet of asphalt pavement walkway. The main 120 foot span over the railroad tracks utilized pre-stressed concrete girders. The project also involved 85 feet of gravity block retaining wall, approach structures, galvanized chain link fencing, and a luminaire mounted lighting system.
