Steelscape Site Improvements
Client—Centrex Construction, Owner: Port of Kalama, Washington, Tenant: Steelscape
Steelscape is a national supplier of metallic-coated and pre-painted steel. The Steelscape facilities are located on three parcels owned by the Port of Kalama totaling 162 acres of industrial zoned property. Gibbs & Olson was hired to provide the civil site design, surveying, stormwater evaluation, permitting preparation and assistance, and construction phase services for the site improvements associated with construction of a new building.
Currently in the process of permit review, the project consists of design and construction of a new 45,000 square foot building along with associated site and utility improvements adjacent to the existing coil warehouse. Site improvements will include water, sanitary sewer, natural gas, storm drainage, utility improvements and extensions, site grading (6.6 acres), paving, and temporary erosion and sediment control. A maximum of 6 feet of the existing soil will be removed to accommodate the stormwater infiltration pond.
Stormwater runoff from the site will be conveyed to treatment swales just west and east of the site. The runoff will be treated in the swales while being conveyed to retention ponds located to the west and east, where runoff will be stored until it is completely infiltrated.
