Washington Way Bridge
Gibbs & Olson provided land surveying and stormwater engineering services as part of the consultant team for construction of the new Washington Way Bridge Project. Washington Way is a principal arterial and was recently added to the National Highway System. The old bridge was constructed in 1935 and widened from two to four-lanes in 1957. To meet the requirements of stormwater compliance for the bridge replacement, innovative approaches to address water quality were implemented. These approaches included replacement of existing impervious surfaces with pervious surfaces, planting of trees to offset new impervious surface area, and infiltration of stormwater runoff. Gibbs & Olson prepared the stormwater report and final plans and specifications for the stormwater component of the project. We also worked closely with the City to develop the stormwater mitigation approach.
