Water Reservoir & Transmission Main
Client—City of Montesano, Washington
Gibbs & Olson provided planning, design, and construction management services to implement a municipal water storage project. This project was identified as a priority project in the City’s 2008 Water System Plan (WSP) Update prepared by Gibbs & Olson. The existing system was originally constructed in the 1930s. The age of the reservoir and roof damage from winter storms increased the need for the project. Components of this project included: two glass lined, bolted steel tanks with a total capacity of 1.5 million gallons, 2,450 feet of 10 to 16 inch PVC transmission main; and 500 feet of ductile iron transmission main. Construction on the first tank was completed in 2013. The second tank was construction in 2014. The total construction cost is $3.6 million. Funding sources included: Public Works Trust Fund and the Department of Health Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.
